It started with a dream

Have you ever had a dream that seemed a bit out of reach, but you just couldn’t let it go? That’s exactly what happened to us. Back in 2015, we envisioned the ultimate paradise for pets, but it took a lot of hard work, determination, and perseverance to turn that dream into reality. After three years of meticulous planning, securing permits, and overcoming countless challenges, we finally lifted our own house off its foundations, built the boarding kennels and relocated it right on top.

Of course, the journey wasn’t without its bumps along the way. We faced budget overruns, contractors who regretted taking on the project, and endured ten months of "glamping" with no electricity or flushing toilets. But we pushed through it all because we were on a mission: to create the perfect place for your beloved pets to stay when you’re not around.

A Family Business

We’re Colin and Jody Richardson, and we’ve proudly owned Odiez Kennels since 2001. As you’ve probably gathered, we’re more than a little passionate about our pets. That’s why we built Cosy Paws V.I.P, a luxury VIP pet hotel where your furry friends can enjoy all the comforts of home—and then some!

Best of all, we’re a small operation. With just 20 dog rooms and 10 cat suites, we can ensure that each pet receives the individual love and attention they deserve.

For the dogs (and cats)

Our building was thoughtfully designed with your pet’s comfort and safety as top priorities, featuring double fencing in the big dog areas and hand-crafted designer beds. There’s a massive heat pump for optimal temperature control, and an inside-outside flow so your pet can enjoy the fresh air. We even have TVs and security cameras in every dog room!

Jody

Owner/Operator

With a deep love for animals and a commitment to providing top-notch care, Jody is dedicated to making sure your furry friend has the best possible experience staying at her home. Jody has an extensive knowledge of all thing Dog (and most other types of animals too). Jody is the proud owner of Odiez Kennels, breeding and rehoming Chihuahua's since 2001.

Jody and Colin together have 15 of their own dogs, 5 cats, goats and chickens.

Colin

Owner/Operator

With a passion for pets and a drive for excellence, Colin is dedicated to ensuring your furry friend receives the best possible care and attention during their stay.

On top of being all over every aspect of the kennels, he has also built EVERYTHING including all the fencing and the whole enrichment park.

Colin also is our main Taxi driver, picking up and dropping off your pets.

Katherine (aka Kat)

Daycare and Boarding Senior Team Member

With running her own business prior to us and a deep love for animals and perfection, Kat ensures that every pet and owner is well taken care of and receives the attention and care they deserve during their stay.

Kat has been at Cosy Paws since January 2021. When Colin and Jody are away Kat steps in to run the show.

Caitlyn

Boarding Kennel Manager

With a keen eye for detail and a love for all animals, Caitlyn ensures that each pet's stay is comfortable and stress-free. She goes above and beyond to make sure that every furry friend receives exceptional care and attention.

With her bright smile and an endless well of compassion, Natalie is a true ray of sunshine who spreads joy to everyone she meets. Her commitment to ensuring both pets and their owners feel cared for is outstanding—she consistently goes above and beyond to make every experience special.

Not only is Natalie a talented groomer, but she has also taken on the role of manager at our brand-new Cosy Paws Indoor Daycare and Grooming Centre. She’s the heart and soul of our new center, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her leading the way!

Casey

Daycare & Boarding Team Member

Casey is a kind and thoughtful person with a natural ability to notice things others might miss. With a keen eye for detail and a deep sense of care, she brings attention and heart to everything she does.

Known for her gentle presence and thoughtful nature, Casey creates a calm, nurturing environment wherever she goes.

Maddie

Enrichment Park Manager

Maddie is our Enrichment Park manager and our very own Junior Behaviourist. Maddie brings incredible dog-handling skills and a deep passion for animals—especially service dogs - as well as canine behaviour and training. Her kind, caring, and bubbly nature makes her a joy to work with, and her sharp, witty sense of humor adds a wonderful dynamic to our group.
